Lamifil obtains OHSAS 18001 health and safety certificate
Lamifil is proud to announce that it has obtained the OHSAS 18001:2007 certificate. OHSAS 18001 is the widely recognised international standard regarding occupational health and safety. The certificate warrants that Lamifil has put in place a solid and effective occupational health and safety system, including well-defined policies and objectives. This accomplishment shows Lamifil’s continued engagement to create the best possible and safe working conditions.
Commitment to employee safety
Lamifil has continuously invested in its production facilities and the latest technology to offer clients the best options for their needs. Today, around 200 employees work in Lamifil’s production unit. Production involves the operation of advanced machinery, subject to high forces and speeds, as well as the use of liquid metals. Hence, it goes without saying that employee health and safety are a key priority for Lamifil. The OHSAS 18001 certification proves that the company’s commitment to employee safety lies at the very core of its strategy. It is the result of an extensive audit performed by the independent certification agency Bureau Veritas.
Comprehensive system to prevent accidents and improve working conditions
Lamifil’s Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) is designed to rigorously manage and continuously improve safety processes. It allows employees to identify possible hazards early and offers controls to manage them and take appropriate actions, ranging from repairing a small hole in the concrete floor to modifying heavy equipment.
The OHSMS is devised to reduce the potential for accidents and demonstrate compliance. It consists of a comprehensive series of processes, measures and policies covering the entire production process. A key aspect, for example, is that every production activity has been documented in working and operating instructions. Furthermore, machine safety is continuously assessed and improved by, among other things, decreasing the number of manual interventions or by re-designing them to minimize exposure to potentially hazardous parts.
Corporate health and safety culture
When employees are constantly aware of their responsibility in looking after their health and safety, they will be more attentive to potential hazards. That is why communication is a crucial part of the Lamifil’s OHSMS. Employees are actively involved in communication and prevention activities. On a regular basis, for instance, they present concrete cases to their colleagues during dedicated safety sessions.
