Lamifil publishes EPD for aluminum wire products 1000 series
Lamifil has published an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its aluminum wire products in the 1000 series. The declaration is registered with the International EPD System under number EPD-IES-0034526 and is valid until August 2031.
The EPD covers three products manufactured at Lamifil’s facility in Hemiksem: Wire Rod Alu Eco, Drawn Wire Alu Eco and Extruded Wire Alu Eco. These semi-finished aluminum alloy products are supplied to cable manufacturers, processors and contractors, and end up in applications ranging from energy transmission, steel production to construction and automotive.
Why an EPD matters for our customers
An EPD is an independently verified document that reports the environmental impact of a product across its life cycle, based on a full life cycle assessment. It follows ISO 14025 and EN 15804+A2, and it is verified by an accredited third party before publication.
An EPD does not rank a product or claim it performs better than another. It reports data according to fixed rules, so that customers can use those figures in their own calculations.
That is where the value sits for our customers. Grid operators, cable manufacturers and construction clients increasingly have to report on the embedded carbon of what they buy, whether for CSRD reporting, for tender requirements, or for their own supply chain targets. Verified upstream data makes that possible.
Part of a wider commitment
The EPD builds on work already documented in our Integrated Annual Report 2025. Lamifil has sourced 100% ECO aluminum for overhead conductor applications since 2024 and reached 41% ECO aluminum across total purchased volume in 2025, on track towards the 2030 target of more than 50%. Scope 3 emissions have fallen over 40% against the 2023 baseline.
That commitment shows up in the products covered by this declaration. The primary aluminum input is low-carbon aluminum and the products themselves contain pre-consumer recycled material, recovered from our own production scrap.
