Conductor wire testing

In our accredited lab, overhead conductors and individual wires of overhead conductors are tested to verify full compliance with applicable international standards such as EN 50182, EN 50540, EN IEC 62420, EN IEC 62219, IEC 61089 and EN 62004.

Typical overhead conductors testing includes a wide range of tests including breaking load, stress strain, creep, vibration, high temperature, high current  and high voltage tests. Together, these tests deliver a thorough and technically robust characterization of the overhead conductor.

Typical conductor wire testing includes dimensional and mechanical verification (diameter, tensile strength, stress at 1 % extension, elongation), electrical performance (resistivity), and functional integrity tests such as wrapping, torsion, bending, welding and thermal-resistance evaluation. For galvanized or clad wires, additional coating-specific tests are performed, including mass of zinc, zinc dip and adhesion tests, and cladding thickness and uniformity measurements, ensuring consistent quality, reliability and traceability of results under accredited conditions.
