ACSR stands for Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced. ACSR conductors are available as concentric lay stranded conductors, greased or non-greased, featuring hard drawn aluminium wire on a galvanized steel wire core.
An ASCR conductor can offer a reliable solution for long spans due to their steel core. They have a good strength to weight ratio but offer poor conductivity, high line losses and CO2 emissions compared to other conductor types. ACSR can be manufactured in accordance with several international standards such as IEC, ASTM, BS, NF and DIN.
